July 4th Pig Pickin'
What better way to celebrate the 4th than a super slow cooked pig?
Once again our amazing campers and staff came together to create an unforgettable experience! We honestly were blown away by how many chose to stay with us for the 4th and help us celebrate.
It was a long hard day for our chef's, who started cooking at 11pm the night before! This hundred pounder slow smoked for almost eighteen hours. These two diligently kept the fire pit going so that they could move logs over to the grill for one mouth watering BBQ experience.
Not once did they complain about the work, but that could have had something to do with the amazing camper made snacking sausage they kept going as well. Once done, they hand picked and pulled the entire pig... and offered up some choice cuts to the campers drawn by the smells coming from the Pavilion.
We ended up with quite the table full of food and everyone left with a full belly and a full to-go plate as well.
Our added fans and Thermacells made a huge difference! Everyone stayed relatively cool, comfortable, and as bug free as it gets in the south during the entire cookout. The music playing kept everyone tapping along, who knows maybe next month we'll get people dancing again if we don't all feel like we're melting in this heat!
After the food had been enjoyed we all sat around and just relaxed as a community. Drinks were passed out, cornhole challenges were made and lost (Sorry for those that got stuck with me as a partner, I'm pretty bad at it!), horseshoes were tossed, and general fun had by all.
A huge thanks goes out to our one of a kind campers! Because of them we had one of the best 4th of July celebrations I've been to. We are so thankful to each and everyone of you for helping us create and maintain such a welcoming and loving community!
